Carvin’ Time

As Halloween is in just a day, I thought it was an appropriate time to start carving my pumpkins. So, last night, I got a few from the local pumpkin patch, and got going. I found a pic of the way I did my pumpkins, and I thought it was adorable, so I gave it a try. It didn’t work out nearly as cutely as it did in the pic I saw, but I gave it a go, therefore, no one can criticize me. Ha! Here are my three pumpkins that I carved:

TeethyPumpkin

Boo! I thought these were awesome. And the reason I used the lighter colors for their eyes is because I thought it would make them look less spooky, and maybe like more approachable pumpkins, haha. But I like them. They’re now decorating my table.

Because I had many pumpkins left over, I decided to paint them. Why, you ask? No idea, it just seemed a good plan. So, I got out some paints, painted some little guys, left some alone, and then put them all in a clear bowl for decoration. I don’t know if it’s as cute as I saw it in my head, but it’s not hideous, so I’ll keep it out for a day or so.

ColorPumpkins

And there it is. It’s not exactly like I wanted, but it’s not the worst thing I’ve ever done. Happy HalloweenEve!

Pumpkin Snickerdoodles

Husband has left me yet again. Wait, that sounds bad. Let’s rephrase. Husband has gone out of town yet again, leaving me for many days alone in this house. So, of course, I have made myself a massive to-do list that I’ve been doing the last few days. Yesterday was the last of the list that I had written down, I only had like, 3 things left. One of which, was to make a treat. I stumbled across this of course on Pinterest, and had to make them. Here’s the recipe if you’re so inclined:

For the cookies:

3 3/4 cups flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
2 sticks unsalted butter, room temperature
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup dark brown sugar
1 cup pumpkin puree
1 large egg
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
For the coating:
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
Dash of allspice
In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Whisk together to blend. In a large bowl, beat together butter and sugars on medium speed until well combined. Next, still on medium speed, beat in pumpkin. Then, add the egg and vanilla extract. Lastly, add in the dry ingredients. Beat until combined, but do not over mix. Cover the dough, and refrigerate for one hour, until firm.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Line baking sheets with parchment paper. In a small bowl, mix together the sugar and spices for the sugar coating. Scoop dough (approximately 2 1/2 tablespoons) and roll into a ball. Roll the dough ball in the sugar mixture, and place on the lined baking sheet, leaving about 2 inches between each cookie. Take a drinking glass with a flat bottom and moisten with water. Dip the glass in the sugar mixture, and use it to flatten the dough balls. Re-sugar the glass as needed.
Bake the cookies for 10-12 minutes. Remove when the centers of the cookies have set. Let cool on the baking pan for approximately 5 minutes, and then transfer to wire cooling racks to cool completely.

See. easy-peasy. Of course, after I mixed together my dough, and got a whiff of that, I was like, holy gross. It just smelled awful, but pumpkin treats usually do before they’ve cooked. After I smashed down the cookies, I snapped a pic (with cookie all over my hands, my phone got dirty)

CookiesPreAnd of course, I took one after they got out of the oven.

CookiesPost

And let me tell you, when I pulled them out of the oven….. DELICIOUS, honestly, everyone should eat these. The recipe made 44, so I’ve eaten plenty and still have a lot. Maybe I’ll hand them out on Halloween night!

BFF’s

Last night was the last RSL home game, and as such, was also the Fan Appreciation Night. The first 5000 fans got a Kyle Beckerman bobble head. We got there pretty early, I wanted to get a bobble head. They gave another bobble head away, Nick Rimando, and even though we got there 15 minutes after the gates opened, we missed out. It was only by a tiny miracle that we got one at all. So for this one, we showed up with 10 minutes before the gates opened. There were a lot of people there, so many that I didn’t think we’d have gotten one, but after waiting in the chilly air, the gates opened, and we made our way in. Lucky for me, I got one!

IMG_3088

I was pretty happy about that. The game was freezing, and with many layers, and blankets, it was still cold. The game ended in a 0-0 tie, but thank goodness, we’ve made it into the playoffs. So there will be one more game, as luck would have it. So, after the game, home I came, and introduced the two new friends to each other.

IMG_3091

I think they’re going to be best friends.

A Sculptor

Right now for scouts, the boys are working on their Artist badge. Last week, we did collages, and this week, we worked on sculpting. We got some clay out, and waited…and only 1 boy showed up, like usual. I bet it would be amazing if we could have more than one boy come every week, but so far, that’s just not happening. So, I worked on building things out of clay, since we didn’t really have anyone else doing it. I built many a thing:

IMG_3069IMG_3070IMG_3071IMG_3072

Lovely, right? The guy in the corner, Stick-Man, his name is Malachai, and Snowman’s name is Zebekiah, in case you couldn’t tell, that’s a bowling ball and pins, and we end with Carl the Caterpillar. I had some help naming the little guys. After I made these four, and our scout made a couple, we called it a night. I think I may have found another career option, making child-like sculptures out of Crayola clay!

Miscellaneous Monday

I haven’t done a Misc. Monday in a while, and while each of these could indeed be their own entry, I just don’t want to write a bunch of blogs, so I’ll just consolidate them into this.

On Saturday, I finally had my half marathon. All week, I didn’t really feel like I had a race coming up. I don’t know what it is, but it just didn’t feel like I had anything coming up. So, come Friday night, we had our pre-race feast of pasta (chicken alfredo with some broccoli and red peppers for some color) and then I went to bed earlyish, since the race was at 8, in SoJo, and I wanted to be there at least 30 minutes early. I woke up Saturday, and off to pick up PJ. I was running late, and so I ran to the car with my stuff in hand, and off we went. (Husband drove us to the start line, because we weren’t allowed to leave a car there. Dumb.) It wasn’t until we were near her house, that I realized I didn’t grab my breakfast/pre-race banana. Oh the humanity! And of course, PJ didn’t have any bananas. We drove up, and got dropped off at the race start, and what should be there but a 7-11! I ran inside with the change I scrounged up, and took a look, and they had no bananas. The cashier asked what I was looking for, and I told him bananas. He said he had some that he didn’t want to put out, because they were getting ripe. Even though I HATE eating bananas that are too ripe, I was pretty desperate, so I bought one, and ate about half of it before I couldn’t take it anymore, and threw the rest away. Then, the race started. It was a little chilly before we started, then it was a pretty  warm race after that. We finished in 2:23:00, and a finisher’s medal was mine for the taking!

SoJo Medal

After the race, I walked through the corral for runners, I picked up the usual post-race far. A bottle of water, an apple, an ice cream sandwich, and a snowcone. Tiger’s Blood, my favorite flavor. It was a good race, I think I’ll do it again. After stretching for a while, I’m still sore, 2 days later. Worth it, though, for the medal.

I went to Lagoon this weekend. On Sunday. That’s right, everyone, I went to Lagoon on Sunday. Here’s my rationalization for it, and I’ll gladly explain why. I bought the tickets for Husband’s birthday 3 months ago. I’ve tried several times in those 3 months to go, and it just hasn’t worked out. So, now, this week is the final week of being able to go at all – it closes on Halloween for the season. So basically, it’s use or lose all that money, because they don’t do refunds – no exceptions. And we can’t go this upcoming weekend, because Husband is out of town. So it either had to be Sunday, or no day. So, off we went. We rode all the rides we wanted – Colossus, Wicked (SO AWESOME), The Bat (Yawn), Samurai, the white Roller Coaster (That’s seriously the name), Centennial Screamer, and one more that I can’t think of the name. Basically, all the roller coaster rides, and similar ones thereof. Then we  took a walk through Pioneer Village, and looked through the cool small buildings, played a Midway Game, and won a small polar bear stuffed animal (I would have included a pic, but I forgot until I was writing this, and then I didn’t want to get up. I’m sure at some point, I’ll include a pic somewhere). I call him Jaques le Bear. He has a French accent in my head, so I liked it. After spending a few hours there, we called it a day, because rain clouds were threatening, and I didn’t want to be caught in the rain. It was a fun trip, hopefully we can go next summer again, to enjoy it more, for longer.I wish I had some pics or something to include, but the problem with only being two people is that there’s only 2 people for to take, and I hate asking strangers if they’d take a pic, since it’s usually with my phone.

This morning, as I was eating breakfast, I broke a glass. I don’t even know how it happened, it just did. I was in bare feet and everything, so Husband threw me a pair of flip flops, and I cleaned everything up. Of course, this broken glass leaves me with 5 glasses instead of 6, so now I want to break another one to have an even number.

To-Do...Make Brownies

Returning from our quick jaunt to Monterey, things were crazy. We didn’t get home until 12:30 that night, and then had work, and so by the time I got home, I was tired, the house had zero food in it, and there was about a ton of laundry to do. So, I gave myself a to-do list, which is my favorite thing ever. I, admittedly, put too much on it, because there was just that much to do. There was grocery shopping to be done, laundry to do, kitchens to be cleaned, brownies to be made, CD’s to burn, you get the idea.

So, I had lot to do. I went straight to the store, shopped, and then came home. I put in a load of laundry, cleaned the kitchen, while burning said CD. (Pitch Perfect, in case anyone was wondering. Great movie.) Then, I made brownies. It was treat night, and I saw this idea on Pinterest. It’s the easiest. I made a double batch of brownies, just a simple recipe. Then, I put half of it into a 9X13 pan. Here’s where things get fun. After putting said brownie mix in the pan, I put a bunch of York peppermint patties into the pan.

Then I poured the rest of the brownie mix into the pan, covering the mints. Then, I baked them. And baked them. And baked them – I baked for way longer than it says to, but it was still a little doughy in the middle. I finally pulled them out because the sides were in danger of burning. They looked pretty good when I pulled them out.

I let them cool for a while, then cut into them. The middle was pretty doughy. I had to just throw out a bunch of it, because it hadn’t cooked, and I didn’t know what else to do with it. And then I ate one, and holy cow, were they pretty delicious. Very chocolatey, and that mint gave it just the right amount of delicious kick. I think the next time I make them, I’ll just make a single recipe, and put them into an 8x8 pan, like the recipe originally suggested. But still, dang good.

As the brownies were baking, I did more on my list. I put in more laundry, blogged (of course!) and made myself a dinner of a wrap with cucumber, pickle, turkey, and Laughing Cow cheese. It didn’t turn out as delicious as I was hoping it would. Good to know for the future, I suppose. I didn’t get everything on my to-do list done, but that’s what tonight’s for. Everyone have your fingers crossed that I finish it tonight!

Monterey, Le End

On our last day of Monterey business, Husband had to work from the hotel, so I just hung out with my sister, and we just sort of took it slowly, hanging out, didn’t do much, just chatted. My plan was to hang out with her until noon-thirty, and then go pick Husband up from the hotel, and head over to the airport. She has cats, and this one seemed pretty obsessed with faces. I usually don’t let cats get close to me, but he was small enough.

IMG_2978

I got a call from him at like, noon, telling me they had delayed our flight. He was going to call the airline and make sure that we could still make our connecting flight. After talking to them, we found out that we wouldn’t make our second flight, so we had to now fly out of San Jose to Denver, then from Denver to SLC. Our flight to Denver was earlier, so off we went to the airport. On our way there, we ran out of gas. Husband was trying to return the rental car with as little gas in it as possible. So, naturally, we ran out of gas. We coasted off the freeway (yup, freeway) and then Husband had to push the car to the side of the road, then went to get gas. I hung out. We got to Denver pretty well, and found out as soon as we arrived that our flight to SLC was delayed by 30 minutes. Sheesh!

After eating and waiting for what seemed like a long time, we were off. A 6 yr old boy sat next to me, and boy was he chatty. Even as I was reading my book, he decided to chat, so instead of super paying attention, I just sort of said “uh-huh. yeah” and things of the like as he just talked. After about 20 minutes, he turned to me and asked “What’s your favorite thing that we’ve talked about so far?” Uh..I didn’t expect a quiz! An adult wouldn’t have quizzed! So I just said the last thing I remember, pink vampire bunnies. He nodded, then said “My favorite is when we talked about my Halloween costume.” (a vampire) When we finally landed, at 11:15, I was pretty tired. We got to the car at about 11:50, then arrived home at 12:26. I was in bed by 12:29, and asleep pretty much immediately. I skipped running this morning (with a half marathon this weekend, so good) woke up at 6:50, and I’ve actually not felt very tired today! I am looking forward to going to be early though.

What a fun trip I had, with the only thing I hated was the travel time, and how late we got in. But if a 6 year old can land at 11:15 at night not tired, I need to learn to do the same thing!

A Continuing Monterey Adventure

Well friends, the Monterey adventures continue. After a pretty casual Saturday (that consisted of mostly driving to-and-from the airport, picking up Husband’s lost luggage) we decided to see the sights of Monterey. We ate lunch, sandwiches, by the ocean. As we ate, a seagull came up to us, and slowly made his way up to us, acting casual. We invented a whole backstory for him, that he actually wasn’t that interested in our food, but he was there to make sure we weren’t littering, his name was Officer Giggles. The reason for the Giggles is because someone mispronounced seagull. He was a good bird, I ended up giving him a bunch of my sandwich.

IMG_2988 You can sort of see him there.

We went to the Monterey Aquarium, which was awesome. It was HUGE and there were so many great things to see. I started off strong, taking lots of pictures of things, but after a bit, I got more into the animals and stuff, and didn’t bother taking pics anymore. Oh well. Here are pics of some of the stuff I got.

Here’s Husband and I trying to squeeze into the penguin shell, made for kids:

And here’s us trying to get out again, and he’s smooshing my foot

IMG_3005

When we were done with everything, but still trying to milk out the $35/person fee, we decided to take in a tiny presentation about Great White Sharks. After we had sat there for about 10 minutes, and still had a couple to go, the fire alarm went off. We all got up, walked over to the exit, and then it stopped. We stood there, not sure of what to do, then the gal working said it was fine, after talking on her walkie, and said we were good to just sit down and do the presentation. It was interesting.

Then, we walked around Monterey for a bit, on the pier, around all the touristy stops. The railing here said not to stand on it, so of course I did, I’m a rebel.

IMG_3021

All in all, a pretty fun trip in Monterey was to be had. I’m glad I got to see my sister, and glad to see a new city that I’ve never been to.

A Trip to Monterey

I’d love to be more spontaneous. I would. I’m just not very good at it. I like to plan. I like to know what’s going on, and how things are going to be. I had such a spontaneous weekend this week, I of course had to share it all. It started on Wednesday. My younger sister is going through a hard time, and is a billion miles away in Monterey, CA, where her husband is stationed. Since she’s having a rough go of it, the decision came to mind that maybe I should visit her. So after a couple of days of checking prices, and times, and all that’s involved, on Thursday, Husband and I booked a flight, a car, and a hotel, and Friday evening, we were off. It was a secret, though – I didn’t want anyone telling my sister we were coming. It was tough to keep such a fun secret hidden.

We flew into San Jose, because according to Google Maps as I was booking the flight, it’s only an hour away from where my sister lives, and we got such a cheap flight if we went there. Husband and I didn’t get to sit by each other on the way to Seattle, which was fine, because I had just planned to read the whole time. I sat by a gentleman, whose name I never caught, and he was pretty chatty, so I didn’t get to read. At some point, we were chatting about reading, and he gave me a book – said it was a good one. I took a look at the back, read a bit, and said it looked interesting, and I’d have to look it up, and he told me to keep it. Told me to read it, enjoy it, and then pass it along. So, I read that on the way to San Jose, and finished it in the time it took to travel, then gave it to a guy, after telling him it was good and he’d enjoy it. He looked at me pretty oddly, ha ha!

When we landed at San Jose, it was late. We landed at about 11:00, tired and ready to just lie down. As we were getting our luggage, one of Husband’s didn’t come. He originally had just the one checked bag, and his carry-on, but on the flight from Seattle, the plane was too full, and they made him gate-check it, and it had his laptop in it, so of course, that makes me nervous. And then when it didn’t show up in San Jose? I was like, freaking out! So, after we figured out where it was (still in Seattle, WTH?) I was trying to get directions from my phone about how to get to their house. I don’t know if I put in the wrong airport, or what, but the time it told me it would take was 6 hours, and I was almost in tears, trying to figure out what the heck was going on. Finally, I got things figured out; we got our car (A Chevy Cruz!) and off we went.

IMG_2976

We took the hour long drive to their house, and I had hatched a plan. I was texting her the whole time, making sure that she had no idea what I was doing. When we got near her house, I had texted her and said “Wanna know a secret?” because, I anticipated her answering it with a “yes” and then I was going to knock on the door right then and then I would laugh, but it didn’t quite work that way. When I texted her, she didn’t text back…so I just knocked on the door, and away we went. The look of surprise on her face was amazing, and after some hugs, we went to our hotel – which my sister’s husband had to come in to check in with us. We were staying at the Navy Lodge, getting a really good discounted rate because he’s in the military (that’s actually the only way you can stay there too, is have a military sponsor) and so he had to check us in, it was pretty funny. Finally, off to bed for me, because by this point, I think it was nearing 2 in the morning our time. I was exhausted after all the travels and fun!

A Wicked Craft

It was time to do another craft for my upper wall area. It’s finally now a month in which there’s a holiday. Thank you October, for having Halloween, because our craft this month got to be the very cute ‘Wicked’. We got the craft club together again for the occasion. We got together at Mama G’s house, had a delish dinner of pizza, and got to business. We set everything up

and got to work on it all

sharing loads of laughs and stories, and having a generally good time. (At least I thought. Yeesh, could you imagine if I had a good time, and no one else did? How awful!) And it took several hours (and a few of us stayed up past our bedtimes!) but when it was all finished, it looked so good. Here is my finished product:

And of course, a visual of it up on my wall:

You can't really see it that well up there, but oh well. I love this. I think it looks great, and it adds the right amount of awesome flair to the front room. Happy October, everyone!

Stampin' Halloween

It was Stamp & Chat last night, ya'll and it was so much fun, like always. We spend most of our time laghing and singing (tonight we had a little impromptu Bohemian's Rhapsody) and of course, cards being made. Here are tonight's cards, darling as always:
Cute! Look how freaking dapper that skeleton is, tipping his hat at you. I like the hipster witch there, too, she's so cute. I tried to make a voice for her, sort of a high pitched nerd voice, and I laughed so hard at that, like some idiot. Here's our AWESOME treat that we ate:
This, my friends, is a Pizzookie. I'm sure I've blogged of this before, but I'm too lazy to go back and check, so in case I haven't, a Pizzookie is raw cookie dough in a ramekin, baked at 350 degrees for about 14 minutes. Then, after it cools for about 5 minutes, put some ice cream on top. Chelle outdid it though, with hers. She used pumpkin chocolate chip cookie dough, and on top of that, pumpkin ice cream. It was freaking delicious. I want to make it all the time. I recommend this to everyone.

Pumpkin Cheesecake Bars

Yesterday ended up being a baking day. Not the whole day, just the end of it. Today is Canadian Thanksgiving, but in Canada, instead of celebrating it on the actual day, they celebrate it on the Sunday before, with their families. I know, I know…Canadians. So, Husband’s family celebrates it, of course, and the dinner was last night.  As we were getting ready to go over there, Husband’s like, oh we need to bring a dessert. Oh, good, so I had a whopping 30 minutes to whip something up. So, I thought of a crowd pleasing dessert, one that wouldn’t take too long, so I made my little brownie-rolo cupcakes that I’ve made many times now. So, I quickly got those made (thank goodness we had the stuff on hand) and we made our way on over. Because I had frosted the brownies when they were still a little warm, and had the lid on them on our way over, the frosting had started to melt a little, so I quickly removed the lid and let them breathe and cool down. I would have taken a picture, but I was in such a rush, I didn’t really have time.

Then, when I got home from the shindig, I wanted to make these pumpkin cheesecake bars I found on Pinterest. The picture of them, and the description, sounded awesome, so I was psyched. I followed the instructions to a T. I let the cream cheese soften, added the water, etc, etc, but my stuff didn’t turn out at all like her pics looked. And they’re…not very good. Here’s what it looked like after I tried to swirl in the cheesecake:

PreCookedBars

The cream cheese just made little…chunks into the bars, it didn’t really flow like I thought it would. I tried one when they came out of the oven, and they were all right, and then I tried one this morning, after it was cool, and to be honest, I don’t care for them that much. I don’t think I’ll make this again.

Here’s what it looked like after I pulled it out of the oven:

CookedBars

And here’s the recipe:

1 box angel food cake mix, the one step kind
1 15 oz can pumpkin
¾ cup water
½ tsp cinnamon
1 8ox reduced fat cream cheese, softened
Tablespoons of water

Cream the cream cheese, with a few tablespoons of water, to thin it out a little bit. (I added like, 5 TB of water, but I think maybe it’s supposed to be more?).  The water is just used to thin it out a bit. In a separate bowl, mix the cake mix, pumpkin, cinnamon and water together until it is smooth and well mixed. In a 9x13 dish (sprayed generously with a cooking spray), add half of the cake/pumpkin mix. Then, smooth it out with a rubber spatula. Drizzle half of the cream cheese over the top of it and take a spatula to smooth it over the top. Add remaining cake mix, and also the remaining cream cheese mix, (just making some layers). Finally, take a butter knife, stick it into the mix and go back and forth over the top of the cake, making figure 8’s, to blend it up a bit. Bake for 35 minutes at 375 degrees, or until toothpick comes out clean.

So, there it is. Maybe you can make it better, or maybe you like it the way it is. But in my case, I doubt I’ll be making it again.

Christmas Card

Today, as everyone who reads this knows, was conference. When I watch conference, I have to be doing something at the same time. Not anything like, super engaging that takes my attention completely away from the talks, but something that will help me to stay awake, and keep my listening. So, for the last couple of conferences, I’ve had the opportunity to work on my card club cards during conference, which I love. This time was no different, so I got to work on my Christmas card.

When I first got started, during the first session, I realized as I got going, that I didn’t have the proper materials. I had forgotten, in my planning, that I needed an extra square of paper for each card. So, I took a mini meltdown over this, and stopped working for like, 10 minutes, and then got to work again, working on the idea of it while I was listening. Then, I made the first card, and liked it, and then cut out all the paper for the remaining nine. As soon as I had cut everything out, the first session ended. During the break, I did some random cleanings, getting ready, etc, and then the second session started. It only took me the first hour to finish all the cards, huzzah! That’s never happened that quickly, I was so happy. Here’s what my card looks like:

ChristmasCard

I realized after I made it, it’s actually not very Christmassy. It’s more of a winter card than it is a Christmas card, but that’s ok. I’m ok with it, and hopefully, everyone else will be too. I’m just glad I got done with them!

Funfetti Time

This is a lesson in what not to do. Tonight, as I was sitting here, trying to think of what to bake, I decided that Funfetti would be a good thing to use. But cake isn’t very fun to eat later – you have to use a fork, and a plate, and all that jazz. Cupcakes are good, but so much commitment! That’s a whole cupcake! So I wanted to try what I did last week with the lemon bars, but with a Funfetti mix instead of lemon. But, alas, I didn’t have any Cool Whip. So, I improvised. I found the following ingredients in my fridge, and decided to try them out:

Ingredients

Fun, eh? So I mixed them all up, and put them in the oven for about 20 minutes at 350 degrees. I must not have been paying attention to the oven beeping, because I looked downstairs, and all of a sudden, the timer read 0:00, so it must have gone off! Husband was nearer to the oven, so I asked him to pull them out for me. I asked if they looked done, and he said yes. I let them cool for a bit, then went down to see them myself.

They…are not done. I don’t know what is going on with these, but it didn’t really work. It’s sort of a cake…with sort of a cakey texture, but its very sticky, and seems very gooey, like it didn’t finish. I haven’t decided yet if I should just throw it away, I was going to let it cool all the way before I made any rash decisions. Here’s what it looked like, after I tried a square:

Bars

It’s just sort of…weird. I thought it would be fun and adventurous to try something new, but alas, I just don’t think it worked very well. That’s ok..at least now I know what NOT to use.

Miscellaneous Monday

Good news, everyone! My mattress isn’t awful. Last night, I went to sleep ridiculously early. Getting no sleep the night before will do that to a person, I guess. But I slept amazingly. I didn’t wake up once, I was comfortable, it was awesome. I no longer regret the purchase, and I look forward to tonight. I don’t want to totally sing the praises of the mattress until I get at least 2 good nights in a row, so I’ll see what tonight brings. I’m not dreading it, at least!

I found a recipe on Pinterest for pancakes made in cupcake tins. Apparently, its supposed to create a tiny crater when baking, and you can fill it with deliciousness. And instead of using a regular pancake mix, she includes a recipe that you’re supposed to use. I used it, and baked them, and then took them out of the oven. They tasted like eggs. It was very much like an omelet…or french toast. I took a pic, naturally:

See, it doesn’t even look as good as they did in the Pinterest article. I didn’t really like them. But this Sunday, with the oodles of time in the morning (with conference!) I’m trying them again, and this time, I’m using regular pancake mix.

Tonight for dinner, Husband was going to make it. I couldn’t think of what to make, but he offered to make some chicken fried chicken, yum! He got started, and I just sort of hung out, watching him, and deciding if I wanted to make a treat. All of a sudden, and out of nowhere, he burned the heck out of the chicken. Like, burned so much that there wasn’t really a way of saving it, either. So, we cleaned everything up, and tried to think of what else to make. Husband was in a pretty foul mood, so we went out and just grabbed something easier, a sandwich from Ernie’s Deli. It was good…but not as good as my promise of chicken fried chicken. *frown*
