That's gonna leave a mark

I have added a new entry to my awesome list, and it came courtesy of an article I read in Runner's World. It talked about running with your dog, and how great it can be. I thought, what a great idea! Sarge is just old enough to be running but not too old that he'd be that tired at the end of a run. So I took him out on Thursday, and it was pretty awesome! He ran like a champ, and kept ahead of me the whole time (Tugging on his leash, he could outrun me in a heartbeat) and when we got down, he wouldn't even do the cool down walk, he just kept trying to run! And afterward, he was panting and drooling like a crazy dog. It was a little funny.
So I decided that this morning, I would take him running again. It was earlier in the day, so the weather was cooler, I thought that would be helpful. Trying to get him into the car to get to my running park was a freaking joke. I don't know if he thought I was trying to kill him, but I assumed that after our car ride on Thursday, he would understand what we were doing, but he was fighting me tooth and nail not to get in there. I shoved him in there, and then he fought me the entire way down there, totally assaulting me! The run was better this time, with it being cooler, but I feel in my shoulder now from him tugging the leash away from me. I'm just not fast enough for him! It took forever to get him back in the car to go home, I do not understand this dog! And trying to get out of the car, he was trying to get out of my car door before I got out there, and it hurts to have a dog climbing over you to get out first. They have claws!
When I finally got him in the house and everything had settled down, I was feeling some aches and pains. I checked myself out, and I found scratches all over my body from Sarge. There are scratches up my back, some on the side of my body, many on my legs, it is ridiculous! Had I known this morning that my crazy dog would have caused me bodily harm in trying to get him in the car with me, I probably wouldn't have taken him. And as much as it pains me, I'm retiring my runs with Sarge. No offense to the little guy, but it's not worth pains all over just to get him some exercise. I'll just stick with the Frisbee throwing and walks for now.

My Very Own Book of Awesome

I heard about this guy who wrote a book, 1000 Awesome Things and I decided (as all good people do) to copy him. I'm not doing 1000, or writing it for prosperity or anything, but I've started my own, called, appropriately, Vieve's Book of Awesome. So far, it's just in a tiny notebook I have, but I have diligently been keeping track of all things awesome for almost a month now! Sometimes, its hard to think of something awesome, but then you need to start realizing the small awesome things that happen to you that you sometimes take advantage of, or don't realize how great it is. I've decided that sometimes, I'm going to write about one of my awesome things on my blog here, for all to enjoy. I'll not do an entire entry dedicated to one today, this is just a set-up of future ones. I'll do a couple of things today, just to give you something to think about.
My very first awesome thing was on July 12, 2010. It was "Getting free ice cream at Yamato at the end of my meal". You know, that is an awesome thing! I thought we were finished, we were wrapping things up, then they all of a sudden came over with some free ice cream for us! I got chocolate chip-and it was so delicious. What a cool treat to have at the end of an already great meal.
My August 1, 2010 awesome thing was getting my to-do list done, which was an awesome feeling. I mean, I usually write things that I want to do down, and then I do what I can, and by the end of the day, I've only accomplished like half of my items. But this time, I finished it all. My list that day consisted of: Laundry, organizing my shelves, vaccuuming, painting my toenails, painting my fingernails (I know, hard work!), running, and watching some of my Tivo (I know, another hard thing) and I actually finished it! All by 4:30, which is when I had to leave to make a dinner at a friends house. I felt like I had done all I needed to that day, I loved it.
Those two aren't things that some people would consider awesome, but to me, I was a really big fan of them. There are some smaller awesome things and some bigger awesome things, so I hope you enjoy my tidbits, and I challenge you to think of your own awesome things-to appreciate all you have!

Back!

Good news, fans, I made it back safe and sound! And a little sunburned. I was a good girl and wore sunscreen the first day, but then I forgot that the reason I didn't burn was because of the sunscreen, so the second day, I didn't wear it. But it worked out, I didn't get that burned, and it stopped hurting! I just thought I'd do a quick recap of all of our activities.
We spend 14 hours at Disneyland on Thursday. Got there shortly after 8 that morning, and left at around midnight. It was a long day, but so much fun. We saw the new World of Color show at Disneyland-they use lights and fountains and computer generated images-its really cool! We ate good food, went on all the rides (only once-we had limited times, you know) and of course, walked and walked and walked. Friday we spent half the day at Disneyland, finishing up on what we couldn't ride the day before, and buying fun souvenirs. I bought Mickerony & Cheese-I cannot wait to make and eat that.
Friday night, I went to my first Major League Baseball games - the Anaheim Angels vs the Texas Rangers. It was fun - I didn't really pay all that much attention to the game, but I ate my weight in peanuts, nachos, and pizza. Good thing we had walked all day so that I felt ok about eating all that stuff. The thing I like about Utah vs other states is that when I'm at sporting events in other states, the language is..salty, and the jokes are just crude and gross. I'm not expecting people to act like angels here, but when people use the F-word frequently, it just makes me mad. If there was one thing I could change about the game it would be that, but otherwise, it was fun, with the singing, cheering, general merriment. And the Angels won- woo hoo!
The vacation was too short, being only 2 days, but it was fun. We flew in early Saturday to make it to the RSL game Saturday night-they won too! It must have been my weekend for sporting events! I also want to give a shout out to Chelle - she sent with me some awesome stuff to make my vacation that much better! It was so great - thanks Chelle!
