A thief!

As I’ve recently moved into a new place, I’m trying hard to make my new home cozy and inviting. As I’ve explained before on here, it’s about done. But sadly, things have turned a bad corner of late. It all started last night…

Husband and I went shopping last night at the local Maceys. There’s the case-lot sale going on right now, so we went to take advantage of that. (And boy did we. We now have enough food to help us survive a zombie apocalypse, which I assume is going to happen soon) We get home, and we’re both lugging in like a billion bags of stuff (because making multiple trips is for sissies. I don’t care that my arm is losing feeling from carrying 15 bags of cans inside, I’m going to do it), and I see Husband just standing in front of the door. I thought maybe he had dropped stuff, but when I get there, he’s looking down at where the doormat goes. I look too, and that’s when I notice, the doormat is missing!

After some searching around, and general confusion, we did in fact come to the conclusion that someone has stolen our doormat. Someone is going to go to hell for stealing our $10 doormat. There are 4 apartments in a square right where we are. The apartments by us, all 3 of them, still have their doormats. Ours, the newest one there, is gone. I just can’t believe it. I just can’t help but think, what kind of person steals a doormat?

We will survive this. I’ll just have to buy a new one, and hope that this isn’t a trend. Because so help me, if someone steals my new doormat, I’m going to steal every doormat from every person in the apartment complex and burn them in the playground area between buildings. All right, that may be extreme, but I’ll think of something. They’ll rue the day they stole my mat!

Vieve’s Videos

All right, I know I just blogged yesterday, so blogging today is really quick, but, meh, its my blog, I can do what I’d like. Ha ha.

I heard about this video long before I saw it. Its something of an internet phenomenon right now, people all over are talking about it. I first watched it out of curiosity, to see what the fuss was about. And my goodness, does it deliver.

This is a song by a 13 year old girl named Rebecca Black. On the one hand, admire her ambition at putting a video of a song she wrote herself (I’m assuming) at this tender young age. She is clearly having fun singing this song and being with her friends.

On the other hand, I feel like she should have someone help her with the lyrics. Having a verse dedicated to explaining to me that “Thursday was yesterday, today it is Friday, tomorrow is Saturday and Sunday comes afterwards” while educational, seems like a redundant song.

Anyway, just enjoy little Rebecca singing about one of the many things we all love – the weekend.

A long, drawn out process

Ok, so I suppose, that over a month ago, when I blogged that I was back, I was over-exaggerating. But I did think that I would be able to start blogging again, not as often as before, but enough to keep everyone interested. Then, as the days went by and wedding plans got more and more intense/over-blown, I simply ran out of time and energy. But now that wedding is over, Fiancée has become Husband, I have much more time to dedicate to my old pursuits, so here I am, once again.

Of late, my time has been consumed with getting my house in order. I think we’re almost finally there – there are only a few touches left. For instance, we have some appliances coming this week, that should help finish things off, then there’s the whole debacle of pictures. I have a load of frames, and pictures to put in them, I just haven’t gotten around to printing up the pictures, putting them in frames, hanging them on the walls, etc. They just sit in the corner of my living room, staring me in my procrastinating face. They mock me.

Another thing is that I’ve been doing is changing my name. I never knew that this process was so long, or so draining. I started the process over a week ago, at the Social Security office. When I finally got that taken care of, and the new card mailed to me, I had to go on a blitz of name-changing. Hitting up the Drivers’ License division, the bank, and various other locations. I love how many things they have you bring to get this going. You have to bring ID (of course) but not just one, like, a few. Your social security card, birth certificate, marriage license, a lock of hair, a sample of blood…ok those might be exaggerations, but my heck that’s how it feels sometimes. Luckily, I’m nearing the finish line of name changing. I thought I was pretty much done until I was reminded that I had to change over my car title. Of course, there’s also the passport that I have yet to do, but since I have no plans to leave the country, I’m not worried about getting that done right away.

I just can’t wait for all of this extra stuff to be done with, Of course, once the pictures are up, and the names all changed, we still have thank you cards to do. But I’m trying not to think too hard about those – I’ll live for a little while longer in my ignorant bliss of having everything done.
