Vieve's Video

Ok, ya'll, here it is, week 2 of our new segment, Vieve's Videos. I'm gonna post the video first, in the hope that you'll watch before reading.

Video of the week

I love this video. This kid just makes me laugh so hard! And the reason I'm showing it this week is because I myself will be visiting the dentist, and I will be very much like him tomorrow, drifting in and out of sleep, confused by my surroundings. Before the procedure, I take my trusty Valium, which just makes me feel nice and warm. Then at the dentist, they pump me full of that laughing gas, which just makes me feel sleepy, and then I just sleep during the whole thing, which is nice. I know most people hate the dentist, and believe me, I'm one of them. It's just that with my cocktail of pill and gas, I love the dentist, mostly because I barely have any memory of the event, and I remember no pain, so I assume I love it.
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed the video, and wish me luck for tomorrow. While I'm sure it will be all good, I do always get nervous still!

Live from the Kodak Theatre...

Ok, everyone, it's the end of the end. It's been the awards season for a bit now, and tonight is the last show (and if it isn't the last tonight, it's the last one major one). Tonight was the 81st Annual Academy Awards, better known as the Oscars. I'm going to give you my thoughts as they occur during the telecast, because I know you all come to me for this type of exciting stuff.
As I'm watching the red carpet preshow, I can't help but realize that Ryan Seacrest has a knack for making people uncomfortable. Is he meaning to do this, or is it all by accident? Either way, what a douche.
Ah, the opening. I love Hugh Jackman. Best. Oscar. Opening. Ever.
Ok, if how they presented Best Supporting Actress the way they present everything, this is going to be a freakishly long show. Penelope Cruz wins that, by the way.
Wait a minute, did Forgetting Sarah Marshall just show up in the Romance montage? Seriously?
Holy giant musical number. I'm loving that since they have musical Hugh Jackman, we get to hear everyone sing! So far the singing count is him, Anne Hathaway, Beyonce, Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Amanda Seyfried, Dominic Cooper.
Heath Ledger wins for Supporting Actor. Of course, we knew this would happen. Accepting for him...his family. Well, that's sweet.
This is when the Oscars are boring, there's not a category I'm interested in. But thats fine, I'm just eating my weight in Chex Mix, I think.
Danny Boyle wins Best Director for Slumdog Millionaire. No surprise there.
Wow, Nicole Kidman's skin matches her white dress. I get staying out of the sun, but maybe she should fake tan it up, get some color on there. Best Actress is Kate Winslet. Seriously, no surprises here tonight. Her speech was sweet though.
Adrien Brody is looking really ugly with the beard he's rocking and his long hair. I'm not into it. Best Actor goes to Sean Penn. I don't like him.
I feel a little like this show will never end. Ever. Best Picture goes to...Slumdog Millionaire. We all knew this was going to happen. Good for them, they swept the Oscars.
I know everyone was dying to know my thoughts on this awards night, and here they are. The Oscars have highs and lows. There are only about 5 things people want to know, and they have to get through like 4 hours of crap to get to it. I probably liked this year more than last years, but still, they need to make this shorter or make it more interesting. It's over for another year, at least. Congrats to those who won, and keep trying, those who didn't.

In the Recovery Room

Tonight, a tragedy happened in la Casa de Vieve. There I was, minding my own business, running, watching a movie, when all of a sudden, it happened. Out of nowhere, and quite certainly without provocation. Don't worry, everyone, it was not me who was the victim. It was Tiny Troop.
I don't know exactly what happened, we're still piecing together witness stories. As far as I can tell, Gretl (the big German shepherd we have) was eating something when Troop just happened to be walking on by. Gretl was clearly feeling territorial over her food, and decided that attacking Troop was a good idea. She lunged, and bit, and (this is where I came in) Troop did a little dog cry, it was so sad. I checked her over, but I couldn't see any damage. I consoled Troop, scolded Gretl, and assumed we were done.
Oh no, we weren't. A little while later, Troop came back downstairs, and I looked, and lo, she was bleeding! On her cheek, blood just pouring down. I quickly assessed the situation, and discovered she had a big chunk of her face ripped out-and quite deeply, in fact. I did what I could to clean her up, but I'm no doctor. I think the bleeding has stopped now, but the hole in her face remains.
I know I shouldn't blame Gretl for this. She's a dog, and dogs hold onto their items, I get it. But I can't help but feel bad that the giant dog we have attacked the tiny one, and drew blood. I am guilty of having babied Troop tonight-I'm carrying her everywhere, and giving her treats. Sheesh, you'd think I was the one that hurt her. But she's recovering well, and hopefully, the good health will just heal that sucker right up.

A new regular feature!

Some people that blog have regular things they do. Chelle has her "Favorite Things Friday" (which, I won't lie, I almost thought of stealing the idea...) and ok, that's the only regular thing I can think of, but I decided to start my own thing that I'll do every week, or every other week, or just when it strikes my fancy. I had the perfect thing to start it off with, but I had a better use for that (to be said later!) so I chose something perfect for today.
My new feature, which has yet to have a name, will be me sharing my current internet video obsession. Ok, maybe obsession is too strong a word. But I see loads of videos, and I think they're hilarious. And since it seems to be a weird thing to bring up in conversation, I've decided to post them here. If you don't want to take the time to watch these or whatev, don't feel forced to, but I think they're hilarious, so I hope you do!
The first video is an oldie but goodie. The first time I saw this, I died laughing. Hopefully, you'll find it funny also! I tried to figure out how to post this directly onto the blog, but I am not that fab with technology. So sorry, you'll have to click on the link to watch the video. So far, my name for this new feature is Vieve's Videos, but I feel that's misleading, that maybe you'll think I'm in the videos, and that is not true. But anyway, enjoy the video, and if you can think of a name for my new thing, let me know!

An Ode to Today

I awoke this morning with a heavy heart,
Vacation was over, work was to start.
Dreading the thought of leaving my house for the wintry frost,
Got into my car, it wouldn't start! But not all was lost,
a car was provided quite quickly, in fact,
from my mama, who saved me with this kind act.
Away to the office, I flew like the wind
(of course I didn't speed, don't think I have sinned!)
The work day was long, and I accomplished almost nothing,
it was a super busy day, and I was glad at the finishing.
To my house for too much that required attention,
This is why I regret vacations, I should mention.
Laundry required doing, and do it I did,
Taxes to be filed, which I did myself, heaven forbid.
I think I did them right, but there's no way to be sure,
I've grown up a little, things like this help me mature!
I also had a run, which I loved, and had missed,
I don't always run on vacations, as for why, you get the gist.
I finished my lists, so now I'm all done,
This feeling of accomplishment is second to none!
So I'm finishing the day mostly better than I began it,
and surely tomorrow will be better, even if only by a little bit.
Now off I go, to make a dent in my (now) 16 hours of Tivo
wow...nothing at all even begins to rhyme with Tivo.

Thank you, thank you, I'll be here all week!

Disneyland-again!

I'm back, ya'll! As everyone knows, I went on a weekend jaunt to California, Disneyland in particular. It was a lot of fun! We started on Thursday night, slept in St George that night, (splitting the trip up is such the better way to travel there!) and then continued our voyage into Anaheim the next day. Disneyland wasn't too packed, which was awesome. No waiting in lines=Vieve is a happy person. Plus, the weather was in like, the 80's! I even got a little bit of a tan-woo hoo!
This trip, I finally completed my goal-I have now ridden every ride at Disneyland! The last one required to ride was Dumbo, and we finally got it in this time. It only took a few years, but I got them all! We rode all the rides we wanted to, ate most of the food we wanted to (only 1 churro though!) and had a blast. I also ate a cupcake that was about the size of my head. Halfway through the delicious treat, I realized what a mistake it was to try to take that on. Whatev, it was so good.
The only bad bit was that I was battling a cold the whole time. I had to carry tissues with me everywhere, and that was no fun. But thank goodness I wasn't too sick or anything, I could at least get around, and I felt pretty fab, just sinus pains once in a while. But for the most part it wasn't too bad, and easy to deal with.
Sadly, no celebrity sightings this time, and no really good juicy stories to tell. It was a normal trip, with loads of fun, and I'm so glad I got to go, to break up the dreariness of January/February.
