Oreo Rice Krispies

Tonight, I wanted a treat, so I made myself some Oreo Rice Krispies treats.

IMG_9162

I just made regular rice krispies (what is that recipe, like, a cup of butter, a bag of marshmallows, and some rice krispies?) and then I threw in like, half a box of crushed Oreo’s, and pressed them into a cookie sheet. I apparently didn’t get a pic of them when they were done, but they were really tasty, I recommend them.

Foto Friday

For my birthday, I got a pineapple cutter that will simultaneously cut your pineapple and core it at the same time. It’s fantastic. I used it today, finally.

IMG_9174

It worked like a charm.

It’s fantastic and delicious!

Weekly Darth

And now, our weekly dose of Darth, that we sadly didn’t get last week.

IMG_9140

We have snuggly Darth

And Darth made his first outing on a walk/trip to the park, and he’s just as surprised about it as we are.

Fun Miscellaneous Cards

Tonight, I went to a relief society activity with Chelle, they were making cards, and I would help out. They ended up being really cute, of course.

IMG_9085

I always need more birthday cards! And I also made out like a bandit, getting a whole bunch of new scrapbook paper. Huzzah!

Miscellaneous Monday

Today, 13 years after graduating high school, I went to college for the first time. I was terrified. Last week, I had gone to campus, and found my classes, and luckily, my Mon-Wed-Fri classes are the easiest to get to, the easiest to find. I was very glad of this. So today, I went to school, and holy cow, the parking lot is terrible! It took me 30 minutes to find a parking place, I was almost freaking out that I would be late on my first day! But luckily, I wasn’t!

I had history and math today, and already, I love my history teacher. She spent today trying to get people to drop the class, explain what she’s about, and her quirks, and they just made me want to take the class! The history we’ll be covering is from the beginning of time –1500AD, and I just couldn’t be more excited. I’m looking forward to knowing everything, but I’m terrified of everything that has to be done in college – the papers, the work, etc. Hopefully I can handle it!

The thing I don’t understand about college is the cost of textbooks. And along with the textbook costing over 100 dollars, now they don’t even come in a hard cover anymore, they are only loose-leaf papers, that you have to put into a binder. Now, I know a binder is only a couple of dollars, but I not only have to shell out money to buy a book, I now have to buy something to house this book in? It’s already costing me a gillion dollars to go to school, they should at least give me my books!

Color Run 2014

Yesterday morning, I participated in the Color Run once again! Instead of running it, we walked it this year, and I think I much prefer that. Here’s some good action pics.

IMG_9101IMG_9102IMG_9105IMG_9107IMG_9113

I caught a bag of blue color powder straight in the face, depicted in picture #1, but still had a great time. Can’t wait for next year!

A Rare Holiday of Birth

Today is the most special of holidays, my birthday. I celebrated with much good times! I started with the Color Run (More on that later) and then returned home to find that I was given some school supplies for presents!

IMG_9108

I had a great day of errands, and a yummy dinner of steak (while others ate sushi). I didn’t really take any pictures of that day, I’m just noticing! But it was a nice, chill day, and I’m grateful to those who spread their birthday joy to me!

Foto Friday

I was working this morning, and I look over at Cookie, and she is being such a creeper.

IMG_9074

Seriously, she stood and stared at me like this for like a half hour. She is such a creepy dog sometimes, don’t be surprised if she kills me someday.

Forever Starts Today!

Today, after 3.5 years of marriage, I got sealed to Husband. I’m not going to pretend any non-LDS people read my blog, and explain it, because no one reads this, so I’m ok with just moving forward. We got up bright and early, having to be at the temple at 7:00. I had my amazing friend Chelle take the pictures of the day, and she started off by taking this amazing pic of the temple:

DSC_0632

So fantastic! So, we went through the endowments, (I was the only one doing it for the first time, everyone else had already done it) and then, after that the sealing. It was pretty cool to be doing that, and Husband and I made awkwardly flirty faces at each other during it (winking, etc.) because we didn’t know what else to do with our faces. Then, we came out, and got some good pics, and fab family pics.

It was a pretty amazing day, and now, we’re together forever!

2 AM Chili

I made a new chili last night, and got the recipe on Pinterest. It was the funniest recipe I had ever seen in my life. I would post it here, but it has some swears, so I decided it might not be a good idea, with my delicate audience. But I will post the link here, in case you want to check it out. So, I made it, and put it in the crockpot, and let it sit for a few hours. I made some cornbread, which was pretty tasty as well.

Cornbread

And then we sat down and ate the chili.

Chili

I took my first bite, and… IT WAS SO SPICY! Oh my gosh, I had no idea it was going to be so spicy, I thought it would be a little spicy, but nowhere like this. I coughed after every bite, and took many much drinks of water. I could only eat about half of mine before I just gave up. I did eat more cornbread, and that was good enough for me, and I’ll take it. Next time I make this, I’m going to take down the spices a bit, and see if that makes it a little better for me, but otherwise, this was really tasty, and I totally recommend it.

Miscellaneous Monday

Yesterday, I used my last check that I had at all. When I got the checks a few years ago, I never really thought I would be using all these checks, so when I ripped off the last one, I was like, hey! I have to order some more! I got online, and looked at every design, in case the cupcakes one that I love and have been using isn’t going to do it for me anymore. But after looking through them all, I stuck with cupcakes. Of course.

We have a tradition in our neighborhood (that started looong before we got here) where every Sunday they get together in the evening, munch on popcorn and just visit. We never have really gone, because we’re not social. We are super shut-ins, so no need to leave the house. But after trek, we go. If we don’t just show up, the teens come to our door and get us, in case we forgot that it happens (even though we can see it from our house). It’s really sweet, and we actually have a good time there. It’s a good way to get to know our neighbors, too, since otherwise, we’ll probably die alone in our house, and no one would think to look for us for weeks.

Being home is really awesome. I mean, it’s great to go on a vacation, and fun to hang out in other states, but there’s nothing quite like coming home, using your own shower that you’re used to, sleeping in your comfortable bed, and getting to lounge around in your sweats. I used today as a cleaning day, since no one had been here for a while. I love getting everything cleaned. All the surfaces dusted, mopped, vacuumed, and all the bathrooms, and everything got done, and I feel really good about it all!

Tacoma Zoo

Today, we went to the zoo for my final day in Washington. We dressed baby appropriately:

IMG_9032

I chose the monkey of course. I had heard nothing but good things about this zoo, and after having been, I can tell you, it’s nothing really exciting. They don’t have a lot of animals, so really, it’s a disappointment. And at a whole bunch of the enclosures, the animals weren’t there. We did get to see the tiger though.

IMG_9037

We did have a really good lunch there, a tasty pizza, and a side of chili fries, just because.

IMG_9041

We were pretty tuckered out after having been there for a while, so we went back to the house. We did try to stop at another cupcake place, but after having gone out of our way by quite a bit, and getting lost, we got there to find out that the place is closed! It says that nowhere on the internet, and I was so sad. We got home, and baby was so tired he can’t help it.

WA Farmer’s Market

Today, we threw caution to the wind and went to a farmer’s market. First, baby outfit:

IMG_9006

And then made our way to Tacoma for the market. There were many booths, a lot of food trucks, and a whole bunch of food we could try. We bought some bread, some cookies, some veggies, and snapped a pic outside of it.

IMG_9015

We decided it was time to get baby back, and stopped at a cupcake place on the way back. The cupcakes were really pretty

IMG_9017

And they were really tasty too! By the end of the day, baby was exhausted.

Chilling in Washington

This morning, I went running in the gray and rainy weather. I knew that I should have been expecting this, but still, gray weather is the worst. As I was running, I came upon this sign:
IMG_8999

And of course, I had to snap a picture and send it to my dad. (If you can’t see it, it says Blaine Ave) Since I’m only here for a few days, I decided to take it upon myself to choose the outfits for baby all week. This is todays:

IMG_9007

He doesn’t care to have his clothes taken off and his diaper changed, I learned this. He did calm down as soon as we got him dressed and snuggled.

IMG_9008

My sister took me on a tour of the base, we went to stores, and we drove around and just saw a lot of things. We had to take it kind of easy, since her doc advised her to be doing so, and that was fine with me. We had a Robin Williams movie marathon, and made some crock pot pulled pork sandwiches, and enjoyed the day. It’s nice to have a vacay where it’s just chill, and you’re not running from place to place.

First Day in Washington

I arrived in Seattle this morning, and was picked up by sister and baby. He slept for most of it of course:

IMG_8987

We hung out for a good portion of the day, and went to get a meal, since it was an odd time and we were both pretty hungry. We went to a place in Lakewood, and I got this awesome waffle:

IMG_9001

It was really good, but of course I couldn’t finish it, it was too big! We hung out for the day, taking it easy and the like, and by the end, baby and I had bonded.

Miscellaneous Monday

Today, the husband went on a weeklong camping trip with the scouts, so while he’s gone, I decided to take off as well, and went to Washington to hang out with baby Darth and his mama. I had spent the past week figuring out things to do, places to go, and things to see, on the days we’d be able to go, since we’d be having some downtime, of course, with tiny baby still tiny. But hopefully we’ll have a good time, and I won’t hate baby when we’re done.

I was packing for said trip, and right as soon as I started, the doorbell rang. Now, I thought it was a person selling stuff, because lately, the amount of people coming to my house to sell me stuff is out of control. Does anyone else have this problem lately? I think that almost every other day someone is ringing my bell, trying to get me to buy stuff, or just give them money. Anyway, tangent over. So I went and answered it, and it was one of the young women in my neighborhood, wanting to hang out. (Methinks she may have been lonely or something, and wanted some company) So we hung out for a bit, I packed, and we watched a movie, and played Shrek Super Party, and just had a good afternoon.

Being gone this week, I had to drop off Cookie tonight, she’d be staying with Husband’s brother and his wife. When we left to drop her off, Cookie of course was super jazzed, thinking we’d be just going on a car ride. When we got there, she was her crazy self, and then when I tried to leave, she tried to come with me. We had to trick her to get her away from the door. I felt kind of bad for doing so, but I’m sure she had a good week, being with another dog.

A First Place!

Today, I had a race for the first time in a while, which was fun. It was the Lindon City 5k – a favorite race by all! I had a bit of a stomach ache that morning, unfortunate, but nothing’s gonna keep me from this race! So, off we went, and I ran, and I struggled with the stomach, and I felt like throwing up the whole last mile, but I just kept going. I finished, and waited around until they started to post results, and I saw:

IMG_8960

I had gotten first! Oh my gosh! I was very surprised at this. I got a sweet, sweet medal,

IMG_8963

And I felt pretty good about myself. I celebrated with a small shimmy, a bottle of water, and later, some pie.

Back Home

Nothing happened in the haunted house last night. After waking up early, and having an early morning hike into Hanging Falls,

IMG_8923

We hit the road. We got some donuts on the way out:

IMG_8926

My donut here is: Glazed donut topped with chocolate chip cookies and chocolate. It was crazy good. Luckily our drive home was relatively boring, we just had some weather we had to deal with. But now, I’m home, and Cookie was very jazzed so see me, which was very nice, ha ha! It feels so good to be home!

Onto Glenwood Springs

This morning, we got up and got going to a city called Glenwood Springs. We were stopping there for the evening, and then going home in the morning. For some reason, I really felt like I needed to go home. But we didn’t, we just stayed there. We were staying in a hotel built in 1893, and it considered haunted. It’s called the Hotel Colorado.

IMG_8913

It’s really warm in there. They don’t have AC there, so your only way of cooling down is a ceiling fan (just pushing around the hot air) and a room fan (just recirculating the hot air). After walking around the town, which was all closed down because it’s a Sunday, we went back to the room and just hung out. I took pics of everything, though, because it just seems haunted there.

IMG_8914IMG_8915IMG_8919

Hopefully nothing happens tonight!

Colorado Adventures Continue

We made our way to Denver today, and after stopping at a place called 4 Mile Farm, so named because it’s 4 miles from the center of Denver. We took a tour of it, and after finishing, stopped at my favorite (only?) Denver cupcake place, Big Fat Cupcake. I got 4 cupcakes, one for me, one for Chelle (gotta bring a treat back!), one for Husband, and 1 for extras. We checked into our hotel, and after doing so, got back into the car to move it into the parking garage. As we got in, PJ threw her purse into the back seat…directly onto my cupcakes, smashing them.

IMG_8917

This made me so sad, since mine last year got ruined in the flight home. But I held strong. We went to dinner at a burger place, and they didn’t have individual menus, you had to just look at the wall and choose it.

IMG_8902

They gave us a little burger station, so that you could add your own condiments as you see fit. ‘IMG_8903

And then onto the RSL game. We won! 1-0! We also won the Rocky Mountain Cup this year! It was pretty awesome. I didn’t get a pic because I was busy celebrating. But it was awesome! And we finished up by going to a Coldstone, in which they were out of vanilla, mint, chocolate, and strawberry ice creams. That was weird, but I still enjoyed.

Off to Colorado

So today, I have gotten a start to go to Colorado. I went with PJ and we are doing our yearly jaunt to Denver to watch RSL play. We drove this time instead of flew, to save a little bit of money. This is our sweet rental car.

IMG_8890

We got to Parachute tonight, and spent the night here, before finishing on to Denver tomorrow. We stopped at a place called Mama’s Café, and I got a chicken fried chicken.

IMG_8891

It was literally the best one I’ve ever had, and then I finished off with desserts. We ordered a peanut butter cheesecake and a peach cobbler, and shared them.

IMG_8892

Yum. Can’t wait to see my boys in red play!
