My health is usually pretty good. With the amount of running I do, it'd be crazy if I wasn't pretty healthy, and thank goodness for that. Unfortunately, on Monday, this took a quick nosedive.
I was playing Capture the Flag for my FHE that night, and as usual, I was taking my competitive side a little farther than normal people do. So there was a point where I was running at full sprint to my teams prison, to get one of my teammates out of there. There was three people coming at me, to try to tag me out too, and I successfully sidestepped one of them, zigged away from another, but the zag I tried to do to escape the third didn't pan out. There was some hitting, some falling, some flipping, some banging of the head, some rolling, and that was all only me. As soon as I had hit my head, I had the sick awful feeling that that was something bad, it felt horrible. I laid there for a few minutes, trying to get my bearings, but it was definitely taking a while. I had a massive headache that night, and was so tired by the time I got home, I just crashed and slept, even though they say you shouldn't do that with a concussion.
The next few days were uncomfortable, to say the least. I could barely move my head without it hurting, my neck had swollen up crazily, and I couldn't move that either. As those who saw me those few days can attest to, I was a mess for those few days. But at least I could move and walk, so that is a plus side. The headaches had stopped after a day or two, which was good too.
So now I know, after my first time of playing Capture the Flag, what I'm really getting myself into with these games. I should probably not be so aggressive in these games, for sure when I'm playing with my ward. For now though, I'm just taking it easy, and I'm glad we don't have any games lined up right now, that the summer isn't here. And if I can't rein in my competitiveness, I'll just wear a helmet, to deal with any falls I might have in the future.

That...was gross
My bathroom sink, of late, has been not draining well at all. Whenever I use it, it takes forever to get the water gone. I chalked it up to like a drainage issue, so I bought some Drano and poured in the whole bottle, thinking that would take care of it. I mean, if half a bottle is good, a whole one must be better, right? So I pour it in, wait the time it told me, which was half an hour. Of course, I lost track of time, so it might have been a little more time than they needed, but I thought that would be ok.
The next step was, as I'm sure everyone knows, to rinse hot water through the pipes, so I did that, and still....no draining. I tried it for like, 15 minutes, and I think it just kept getting worse. I tried to pull out the drain stopper-thing, but had no luck with that either. Defeated, I went to people who know more about this than I - brother and father. Together, they tackled the sink. They did some pulling apart of pipes, some jiggling of things, and then, it all started to come out. They were pulling some junk of of the pipes. I'm fairly certain we pulled a small animal out of there. I don't actually know what was pulled out of there, but oh my gross. I almost vomited at it. Luckily, they cleaned it all up, and put everything back together, and now...it drains!
I'm psyched that finally my sink will not be all stopped up with water, and grateful to those that that fixed it for me. I'll make sure now to keep hair out of the sink (although in my defense, the hair we pulled out belongs to my sister, from when she was staying here with me. Her hair is vastly different than mine, I can tell the difference) and hopefully, no more small animals with hang out in my sink, and get sucked down the drain.

It's mine, all mine...shoot
Five days ago, just in February, something awesome happened. Ok, lots of awesome things happened, but one affects me the most. That would be me, finishing paying off my car. After a long and (slightly) expensive 5 years, my car is mine. Nobody else gets it, and I no longer have to pay for it! Think of that money windfall! Ok, the windfall isn't huge, but believe me, I am excited for it.
Unfortunately, February is also the time of year that I have to register my car. Luckily, I only have to get it inspected every other year, as most people do. When I logged into the website to register it, it wouldn't let me, it said I had to get my car inspected-I guess I have to do it every year now. After a mini-rant, I was on my way. It wasn't that I was necessarily mad about getting my car done, per se, it's just that I had brought my car in for an oil change the previous Saturday. Why couldn't I have known in advance, I could have killed two birds with one stone? But that's ok. Anyways, so I bring it in, get it checked out and...it failed! I was so angry with my (rather innocent) car. The windshield had a crack in it that was too big, the windshield wipers were too broken (I didn't even know they checked those!) and the brakes were bad. Well, shoot.
The following Monday, I brought my car in for the repairs. I had called them to see when they could get my windshield in, and surprisingly, they could get the part in in just a few hours. I had no idea it could be that fast! I assumed it would take a couple of days, but boy, is that good to know for the future. They had my car all day, and luckily, I had Chelle to take me to the car place to drop it off, and back up there when I needed to pick it up. The new windshield is so clear! This is my first new windshield since I got the car. Imagine the five years of rocks, etc hitting it. By now, it had been so denty and scratchy that seeing out of it sometimes was a joke. But these last couple of days, sheesh! So clean, I feel lke it's not even there! It's great.
I am glad of the new fixtures, and glad that its safe, but oh man, did getting all that done take a chunk out of my pocket. I will not complain though-getting those repairs done is a lot cheaper than trying to pay my hospital bills when my brakes fail on me on the freeway.

Love...love...love. Love...love...love
Ok, I am in love. I will sing it from the rooftops, I will tell everyone I know. I have been sharing it with everyone-as many people as will listen. I met my new love about two months ago. It has been a fast courtship, sure, but now, I can't live without.
Of course, I am talking about the Cocoa Bean Cupcake Cafe in Provo. I am in love with these cupcakes. I first heard about it from some gals at Chelle's Stamp & Chat in January, and I went there very soon after. I love sweets, as we all know, so this place is perfect for me. There are over 32 flavors-and I won't stop until I have tried every kind. To date, I have so far had 23 of the flavors-so I'm so close! I have many favorites-obviously there are many to choose from, but my very favorites are Luscious Lemon Raspberry, Phat Monkey, Party in my Mouth, and SnickerDoodle. Ok, so I have way more than that, but those ones are super delicious.
If I can tell you anything it's to go to this place, and eat a cupcake. Go every day, because the flavors change every day. But don't blame me if you happen to get addicted. It happened to me, and it can happen to anyone. I've tried to stay away-I've tried to not go, but every week, a little voice is screaming out to me to go back-and I always do. I hope one day this won't have as strong of a hold over me, but until then...cupcake anyone?

Well, I can see for now...at least...
I'm back in the swing of blogging! So, today was my yearly eye exam. Ok, technically I haven't been since like, November 2008 or so, but hey, at least I finally got there! I always get so nervous when I have the exams. Like there's too much pressure or something-I'm afraid to answer wrong! You know, they always ask "1...or 2? 2...or 1? Is this better? How 'bout now?" I can't take the pressure of it! I don't know which is better! Just invent a machine to figure out what my eyes can and can't see-and stop asking me!
I found out today that my eyesight is 40/200 which is just one step above being legally blind. Now, to me, this sounds bad, and I think the eye doctor felt bad for me after he told me, because as soon as he did, there was an awkward pause, then he goes, "...well, that's not really good to hear is it?" I just laughed and said it didn't really matter, because lets be honest, there's always a pair of glasses or contacts that people can make me to help me see. But still, I can't believe how far down my eyesight has gone!
So anyway, I got my new prescription, I got some new contacts, and now, my eyes will no longer hurt, since my previous pair of contacts had been in there since, oh, say, November, and as we all know, you're really only supposed to wear those babies for 3 weeks or so. But now I'm all fixed, and I will have to look forward to my next appointment...in a year or so.

Do I need improvement?
All right, here's the thing. I know, without anyone telling me, that I'm what people would call, oh...mean. It's not like I set out to be mean, it's just that I feel very strongly that people should be told how things are, I don't think some things should be sugar-coated. Obviously there are times when I won't say exactly what I mean, some people don't like to hear it, but for the most part, I will say just what's on my mind.
I've been told, however, that this isn't exactly a good selling point when trying to make friends or getting a potential mate. I get that some people will get turned off when told that, say, I don't like children, but shouldn't they know this in advance? I'd hate to get told by someone that they don't like them either, but then later (say this actually advanced!) and I find out they want some, oh my heck, the streets would run red with their blood. Believe me when I say this.
I've just been thinking about this for a while, and I can't help but wonder why I need to change myself to fit in with other people. If people don't like me for the crazy weirdo that I am, then why would I want to hang out with them? Especially if, if I'm changing for them, you can be damn sure I'd make them change to suit me.
The quote I think best fits this situation is:
"The reward for conforming is that everyone likes you but yourself." by Rita Mae Brown.
I'd rather just be myself, and only have one friend, then be like everyone else, and have people who don't really know me be my friends. I might be an egotistical person to say this, but I really like myself. I'm pretty awesome, and I'm going to stay just the way I am.

Listen, addictions aren't always bad
Well, I thought I might as well end my blogging drought. I just haven't really had anything that exciting to blog about, and if I had, I just didn't ever get to a computer, so I never wrote during December. That's ok, it's not like anyone was dying to read what I had to say, but here I am, and I figured I might as well just write something.
For Christmas, I got loads of good things, most which I use on a daily basis. There is one thing I got, from PJ, that I use every single day-all day, it's like it's now attached to me. She got me an iTouch. In case you don't know what that is, an iTouch is an iPod on steroids-everything is better. And for those of you who don't know what an iPod is, well, there's really not much I can do for you at this point anyways. Not only can you listen to music on the Touch, you can watch movies, tv shows, any YouTube video, etc. You can play games, you download billions of apps, and play with all of those. So far, I love the movie-watching and game-playing the best. I've downloaded a Scrabble-like game and I've been playing with multiple people. It's just addictive. I keep playing all the time on there.
I'm trying my hardest not to be one of those douches who plays on it all the time, even when carrying on conversations with others, but it's hard to just leave it alone. I'm sure that when the novelty has worn off, I won't play it all the time, but for now, nobody be offended if I keep checking that. It's not you-its me.
