Congrats on a Birthday!

A few of my YW recently found out they got into various colleges. So to celebrate, I decided to get some cookie cakes from the store, and have congrats written onto them. So after searching 3 stores, finally I found what I wanted. I asked the gal working the counter to write "Congrats NAME" on them. She said okay and brought them back. Then she brought them back out again, and this is what I see:

Okay, congrats, looking good, looking good ...

... happy... birthday...Feona? Ah, what? When I pointed out that this is not what was wanted the gal was like, "well, there's not much I can do because it's written directly on the cookie". Ah...what? ...okay? So at the fiesta I presented these cakes and we could not stop laughing. At least it was a delicious mistake!

Self Care Night

Last night for YW, we had a self care night. I bought them foot masks, face masks, and I was ready with snacks and everything for a chill evening of self-care (and homework, I can attest that they brought homework to do)
I was proud of my table set up.

The evening was a lot of fun! We all beautified ourselves with masks, and ate a lot of snacks. We had some fun conversations and I don't know if anyone actually got any of their homework done. It was probably the best activity I've been to in a while - we had so many YW show up, it was awesome!

Birds, Birds, Everywhere

GUYS. Tonight for our YW activity, we had a bird expert that lives in our ward and is a bird rescue operation, come and bring some birds and talk to us about them. It was probably the greatest activity I have ever been to.

These are amazing, majestic birds, and it was so great to see them in real life .

Youth Conference Weekend

Yesterday, my ward started Youth Conference, and it went until today. We drove down to Cedar City and ate some lunch at a park near the temple there, and then took a picture on temple grounds. We originally had wanted to head in and do some baptisms in there, but we didn't have the time.
I took a "wedding pic" with one of my YW, we had so much fun.

After the CC temple, we headed down to St George, and did some temple work there, it was a delight. After more pics (Which I haven't received yet - hopefully soon), we headed to the house we had rented.
After we got to the house and all that jazz, we had a Chopped-Style cooking show, which I was the judge of. I had to give them specific ingredients, and then they had to use them all. They did a great job!
 (Ah a sideways pic)
The one with the longer treat - that one is a roller coaster. The other one is sushi - a Cali roll and some sashimi haha
Then the next morning, I went for a run and snapped this pic before the sun rose. It was beautiful and quiet and so peaceful.
Then, after the morning spent at Sand Hollow Reservoir, we came home! We were tired but we had a lot of fun.

Ice Skating!

Tonight, I went ice skating with my YW. We drove up to Midway (despite only having a handful of girls show up, but that's fine) and used their outdoor rink. Of course it was very cold but we had a great time. It was the first time ice skating for one of the girls but by the end of the night, she had moved away from the walls and was attempting to skate with us! It was a great time.

Since its at night you can't really see much, but still, we had a grand time!

Duct Tape Adventures

Tonight at YW, we had our camp recap. I had made a slideshow of all of our pictures, and we just worked on crafts and stuff left over from camp. After we watched the slideshow, a few girls decided to duct tape another to the wall, to see if they could. Should we leaders have stopped it? Maybe, I don't know the rules. But it was really funny to watch.

They were successful in getting her to stick on the wall, and it was really fun to watch. Good work. ladies.

Bananagrams

Tonight at YW, we had a game night. Before anyone showed up, one of my YW and I decided to play with her double Bananagrams and play just the two of us. It took a while to play all of the tiles, but by the end, we had an epic game that happened.

What a great game.

Ice Skating

Tonight for YW, we went ice skating. I was pretty jazzed, I hadn't been in a while. And...it showed. I definitely struggled! I can't believe how hard it was to skate! One of my YW is an honest-to-goodness competitive skater, and she tried to teach us some tricks, with no luck from me. I could sort of skate backwards, and sort of stop when I tried to, and sort of do a small spin, resulting in a garbage looking spin. One of my other YW tried to do a trick and ended up on her bum. She was game enough to give a good pose:

We ended with some ice cream, and it definitely made me want to go skating sooner than 10 years, which is how long it had been last time!

Grad-a-Palooza

Today I went to two different high school graduations. Now with my SIL's on Monday, this would make 3 in one week, oy. I went to Orem High and Mtn View, as I have Laurels who go to both school. It was a zoo to find them afterwards, but worth it for the celebrations.

I'm gonna miss these gals now that they'll be out of YW but I am so excited for their next phases of life!

One last temple trip

One of my YW is going on a mission. This next Wednesday, in fact, she heads into the MTC. I went to her endowment session, and then we decided that we would go one more time before she left. Tonight was the night. There was a lot of craziness in trying to lock down a date, between school and other obligations. We did figure out today about an hour before we left. But she came, as well as her sister, and we had a lovely evening. Of course we had to snap a pic on our way out.
I'm so excited for her to serve the good people of California!

Achievement Unlocked

So for the past few months, I have been working on my Personal Progress. I won't pretend anyone reads this or isn't LDS that reads this, so I won't explain. After I had been working on it, and was really close to finishing it, I learned that leaders actually do less in terms of the activities. There are a bunch of things they have to do under every value, 8 in total, with 6 experiences under each value, plus a 10 hour project. After I was almost finished, with 2 value experiences remaining and 1.5 of the value projects, I learned that leaders only have to do 3 experiences under every value, and 3- 10 hour projects. Whhaaaaaaat?! I was done ages ago! So tonight at YW, they gave me my award. My YW made me feel special, they made me a laurel crown, like old-timey Olympians got, and made me feel cool. Here am I with my crown:
And then afterwards, of course we had to take a pic with all of the Laurels there, because it was such a fun celebration of everyone.

I'm just so proud of it, I'm very glad I finished it. My next goal...getting the Honor Bee!

Hungry Hungry Hippos

Since becoming a young women’s leader, I’ve been going to their activities, like a leader should. Usually we’re doing a service activity or something for camp, or some missionary things. But tonight, we had an activity that was just…fun. The kids all combined and played a life-size version of Hungry, Hungry Hippos. The kids were given helmets, and skateboard-type things, and small laundry baskets. A giant bunch of balloons were placed in the center of the cultural hall.

Then the kids had to roll on the skateboard thing into the center, grabbing a balloon that corresponded to their team color. If you got a green one, you could pick a team to lose all their balloons, if you accidentally snagged a black one, you lost all yours.

It was so much fun, and got quickly into fighting, cheating, and general horseplay. It was a lot of fun though, I wish we leaders had been allowed to play!
