Provo City 5K 2015

All right, all right, race season starts today! I kind of decided last minute that I would do this race, and registered the night before. I thought I had registered earlier, but then apparently, that’s not what happened. I got to the race the morning of, and it felt good. Kind of warm, but I wasn’t expecting to do amazing things, just wanted to survive. As the gun shooting kicked us off, I tried to go as fast as I could, without dying. I made it through the first two miles pretty good, I was feeling awesome. And then, randomly, my body decided during the third mile that it was time to give up on life. I slowed down a little, and then my legs burned as I crossed the finish line. I didn’t finish faster than the Mayor of Provo (The real race name is Chase the Mayor 5K, but it’s so hard to beat him, he’s so fast!), so I figured I did poorly, but I felt pretty good anyway. They had a line where we could print off our results, and after waiting in that line, I found out…

I had gotten 2nd place in my age group! I got a medal!

I couldn’t have been more surprised. And then I looked at the whole results  and I was 1 minute away from being first place! 1 minute! Oh man, I was angry at myself, but that’s ok. 2nd place is not the worst, and now, race season is underway!

Women’s Conference 2015

Well, today draws to a close the BYU Women’s Conference of 2015. It was awesome, I learned a heck of a lot, and I had some great yummy food, good spiritual feeding, and some fun and laughs. Chelle and I went together, this is our second year of going. We had a blast, and can’t wait for next year!

Here’s to hoping next year will be just as awesome!

Schooooool’s Out For the Summer!

You guys, it’s happened. I have survived one WHOLE year of college! At times, it seemed dicey, and holy cow I can’t believe it’s already at the end, but I’ve made it and it’s over. Today was my last day of finals. I had my math final this morning, and my film final this afternoon. Then a few hours after they were over, I got my scores. My math score…

I missed 8! Out of 30! Oh my gosh I had no idea I would do so poorly! And I felt so good about myself, coming out of it! And of course I’ll never know what ones I did wrong and how I did them wrong, and that sucks, but that’s all right. Luckily, they allowed the math tests to be graded on a curve, so we got to add 5 points to our tests. So I only ended up “missing” 3, which left me with a 90%. So now, my grades in that class ended up being an A! And in English/Writing, I ended with an A, and in Film, my final (I only missed one question!) ended up with an A, and in my history, my final (an essay question) wasn’t too bad, so I ended up with a 4.0 this semester!

This is literally the first time in my whole life that this has happened. And I’m so jazzed that all of my hard work and all of my freak outs this semester were worth it, and my grades reflected that. And now, I get to enjoy the summer!

A New Batch of Cards

All right, I have my cards for card swap done before the time, I am so excited and proud of myself. Let’s take a look, shall we?

My happy birthday card ended up looking pretty fancy, and the template of it was just to do a teal and gray card. It’s not too bad, I don’t think. And the good job card is…passable at best, it’s not a favorite, but that’s all right too. Onto the next ones, I say.

Weekly Darth

The bonus of having snapchat, is that the person who sends you pictures gives them a caption to perfectly describe what’s happening better than you could. That happened this week.

IMG_0567

Amazing, and totally perfect.

Apparently he literally refused to move.

My sister told me that she was following Darth around, and reporting his movements like a news reporter. Then, she made an entire news feed out of her family and animals. I didn’t get to get pics of everything, sadly, but this one was too good to not save forever. She looks like the old-timer that’s going to retire soon, and he’s the young whipper-snapper who’s psyched to get his dream job. I’ll be watching that news team.

Hungry Hungry Hippos

Since becoming a young women’s leader, I’ve been going to their activities, like a leader should. Usually we’re doing a service activity or something for camp, or some missionary things. But tonight, we had an activity that was just…fun. The kids all combined and played a life-size version of Hungry, Hungry Hippos. The kids were given helmets, and skateboard-type things, and small laundry baskets. A giant bunch of balloons were placed in the center of the cultural hall.

Then the kids had to roll on the skateboard thing into the center, grabbing a balloon that corresponded to their team color. If you got a green one, you could pick a team to lose all their balloons, if you accidentally snagged a black one, you lost all yours.

It was so much fun, and got quickly into fighting, cheating, and general horseplay. It was a lot of fun though, I wish we leaders had been allowed to play!

Ward Party Shenanigans

We had our ward party tonight, a “Spring Fling”. I was in charge of the cupcake table, which just consisted of me standing there and handing out cupcakes and individual bags of candy for kids to decorate their cupcakes with. Lots of work, I tells ya. At the end of the party, we had a pie-eating contest. Husband joined in, and he chose a pumpkin pie. Big mistake, he found out. The pumpkin pie is so dense, it’s hard to eat quickly. He got second place (losing to a teenager, so it’s not too bad), and a gal in our ward snapped this.

His face properly conveys how bad it was ha ha. It was a fun night, and I’m just glad I had the sense to stay out of the contest!
