Man, I missed my tiny babies this last week!
Not that I see them in real life, but you get it.
Today is our final At Sea day and final day of vacay! Today was just a regular old sea day - games, drinks, fun. We also did a glass class! I was nervous but we did great!
I made a flower and a heart!
Then Husband went, and he did a pumpkin.
This was, hands down, one of the most fun things I have ever done! I totally totally recommend it to everyone.
And now the last stop on our cruise, Ketchikan! We didn't really have a plan for this day, we thought we could just wander around and see the city.
Oof. The city is small. It's dirty and smells like dead fish because there are dead fish EVERYWHERE. There's a river that goes through town and there are dead fish all around it. On the banks, in the river, oh my gosh.
So we wandered around for a bit, we went to an area that used to be a bordello/prostitute's row? It was wild haha. Then we followed the river for a bit, watching the salmon trying to jump through it (it was, for some reason, one of the saddest things I have ever seen and I hated it).
But it was a pretty town!
Creek Street is the prostitute street. So it was a very chill day off the boat, and I am starting to be ready to go back home, I miss my house, I miss Betty!
Today, Juneau! We got into town and immediately went over to the Mendenhall Glacier. (It was so so cold and so so gray here, dang it)
We hiked up to the glacier and it was very nice. Not as big as the Hubbard yesterday, but still good.
They also had a very cool waterfall!
After the glacier, we went back into town. We shopped around a little and then went rode a tram up an incredibly tall mountain and hiked around up there for a bit.
It was so cool up there! And finally the sun had come out and it was nice and warm.
Happy birthday to me! Y'all, I am 40. Oh man, I cannot even. But, I got to celebrate my birthday in a place where something happened that I have never experienced on my birthday!
Cold!!
The day was spent driving (driving? Floating? Ah I don't know what a boat jargon is) up to the glacier. If you had booked an excursion you could get off the boat but otherwise you just stayed on board. That was fine with me haha it was cold enough! Once the boat stopped and we were in some sun it was actually nice and warm, and we got to get lots of pics.
It was so big and so cool! And as we were there, it kept having tiny avalanches and pieces kept breaking off.
We otherwise spent the day chilling, playing games, and having fun. And then for my dinner, they gave me a piece of mousse cake and I said no thank you to singing haha.
And then we ended the evening by seeing some whales outside our rooms!
You can't really see them in any of the pics, but I know where they are so it's easy to spot haha.
All in all, a good birthday!
Our first day was in Sitka! (and yes I did keep quoting that line from The Proposal, all day long)
We had a loose plan of going to the Raptor Center, and a national park. So we walked over to the Raptor Center and had a cool presentation on eagles.
Then we got to walk around the grounds for a bit, looking at many different birds, and then got into a presentation on owls!
It was so neat! After we finished here, we found some crab legs for lunch (for those who eat that stuff, I had a hamburger haha) and then we made our way over to the National Historical Park. We walked around looking at salmon for a bit (it's their ...breeding season I think they said, so they were absolutely plentiful)
And then we ended up going on a small tour of the totems! We found out that there's a thing called a Shame Totem - where if someone did something to make a person mad, they sometimes would make a shame totem so that the person (and everyone else!) would know what they did! That is so funny to me, what a petty thing to do. I love it.
After some more wandering around the city, we headed back to the ship and took our leave.
Today is a sea day - so there's nothing happening.
You can bet your bottom dollar I got the (non-alcoholic) drinks package and taking advantage. Today we played games and explored the ship, and I got a delicious Pina colada at some point.
Guys! Poor Epifanio has been hit in the face with a baseball at a Bees game!
Apparently, after an inning, a player tossed a baseball over the net to give it to the fellas, but it just hit the little tyke in the face!
The Bees organization gave them free tickets to the game today, to make up for it.
Needless to say, he did not want to be there hahaha.
Okay yes it's been a minute since I've been here (I've been busy, it's not my fault!) But y'all, the fellas are starting school already!
Look at this adult man!Another man!
I can't believe how old these kids are getting!
