The other day, a couple of ducks flew into the backyard, a male and a female. They would just fly in, the male would stay in our pool for a while, and the female just walked around. This has been going on for the last week or so, and we've loved watching them come in. Today, I went over to where I kept seeing the female hang out and found this:
An egg! One egg! I was shocked that she had just left the egg (she just flew away this morning and hasn't been back since) so I started to google stuff about this.
Turns out, this is what ducks do. They come into an area with water, they lay 12-16 eggs, one a day, and then after she's laid all she's gonna do, she will incubate the eggs for 28 days and then they'll hatch! So I guess we'll keep an eye here and see what happens!
