Tiny Winter Lego

 The nice thing about finishing a giant Lego (like the latest, the shield) is that when you work on a tiny Lego, it takes no time at all to finish! This one was a free gift with purchase, one that I got at Christmastime. 

Prepping Up

 Y'all, we have had some warm warm weather. How absolutely insane that we have had high sixties-low seventies temperatures! So we took advantage of this warm weather, and put our outdoor furniture under covers this winter. Yeah, that's right, for the first time ever, we have covered our outdoor furniture and tried to actually keep it safe and clean this year! Then we stacked it all up in the corner of the deck. 

I am so glad we finally did that, hopefully it'll make next summer much easier and cleaner! 

A Blizzard!

Well, its finally happened. Snow has fallen upon us. It happened yesterday, but I waited until today to report on it. (Nature of blogging and all) I had heard tale of a storm for a few days now, but I didn't think it would be this big. I think the reason is because last year, there was no snow. We had maybe a few days of snow, but not in a row, and it didn't dump this much. In my head, its like the heavens opened up yesterday and just dumped a billion pounds of snow on us. 

We have a window in our new office digs (well, temporary new office digs) and we just watched the snow fall, and I just marveled at it all day. Chelle and I got lunch, and were improperly dressed to go outside in this blizzard. I, in flip flops, had super cold feet, and my light jacket wasn't really helping me much. Chelle, in her capris and summery shoes was wet and cold as well. When we left for the day, we had to scrap the snow off of our cars, which I think was piled a foot high. It seemed. Of course, when I got in my car, my gas light came on. I hated getting out in the cold to get gas.

Snow was everywhere. When I went out this morning, I was turning into a parking lot, and my car got stuck. On the road, out of the left turn lane, I got stuck, so I had to quickly reverse, and try to get going again, and I got out of it. So now, here we are. It's winter. And it's more winter than last year was. It's cold...I'm finally wearing shoes and not flip flops...and I'm wearing coats. Happy winter everyone!

Today I am thankful that my car got unstuck by itself, and I didn't have to enlist the help of anyone else.

It's a hazy shade of winter

I love all the seasons. For a short period of time, at least, during every season, I love it. I love spring and fall because the weather is perfect. It's not too hot, it's not too cold, it's just lovely. I love summer because its so hot, and there are so many great activities to do. Swimming, running, hiking, the list is endless. Winter is usually good too. I'm always ready for the weather to be cold, at least for a little bit, and I do like the snow. It's so pretty, and makes everything seem new and fresh.
I am so hating the cold right now though! I wasn't ready for this! I want it to still be warm! Today is actually when it hit me the most. For a few days now, things have been chilly, but manageable. For instance, at the Real game the other night, it was cold. But I combated that by wearing two jackets, a scarf, some gloves, and I had a blanket. I was ready for it, and I expected it, so it wasn't too bad.
This morning, the cold hit me like a ton of bricks. When I left my house this morning, I had on a warm-ish shirt and a jacket, I thought I'd be fine at work. I was cold for a bit, until the car heated up, but then I was good. Unfortunately, work was so cold! I couldn't figure it out-I wasn't heating up, and my hands were starting to stiffen from the cold. It wasn't until I'd been there for an hour, freezing all the while, that someone figured out the heat wasn't even on in our part of the building-the air had been on. I could not warm up all day! Not until the end of the day did I start to feel like it wasn't super cold. But then when I walked outside to go home, the cold came at me again, I wasn't expecting it to be that cold outside, for some dumb reason.
I know it's dumb to complain about the cold, especially when you live in freezing Utah, but I always hate it when I'm not expecting it. It dropped so suddenly, from being good weather to freezing. Know this-I will be wearing far more layers tomorrow. And I'm even thinking about wearing shoes other than my flip flops.
