Thoughtful Thursday

There’s an RSL game tonight. They’re in the first round of the playoffs.  Home game, against Seattle tonight, and I hope it won’t be freezing. The first time we played them, last Friday, ended in a 0-0 tie. That’s ok with me. Goals are counted in an aggregate system, so basically we still have tonight’s game as the winner. I really hope we win. Obviously, but Seattle is one of our “rivals” so I just want to kick the crap out of them. They have a team full of jerks, one of whom is a (possibly convicted, but definitely accused) rapist, so every time I see him (on TV or in real life at games) I just have to remind him he’s a rapist. Because that’s gross. If we win, we’ll advance. But if we lose…we’re out. I hope we stay in. I’d like for RSL to win another cup.

I don’t know if you caught it, but recently, there was an election in this great country of ours. I like elections as much as the next person, but I’m not someone that’s obsessed with them. I don’t follow polls, or really even watch the news, but boy howdy am I sick of this. It’s been nothing but this election for months now. And now it’s over, and people are STILL talking about it! It’s all over my Twitter feed, it’s in my Facebook feed, and I just can’t get away from it. I get that it’s an important part of our country; I’d just like to be done talking about it.

There’s a storm a-brewing. That’s what I hear, anyway. I hear it’s supposed to just dump snow on us this weekend. This is both pretty cool and really awful. We didn’t have much snow last year, so I actually would like to have some this season. I’d like Christmas to feel like Christmas. But I don’t want to drive in it, or walk in it, or have it be that freezing cold. It’s a double edged sword, really.

I was thinking today, if I’m ever in the woods and need to kill animals to eat, I’m not sure that I could do it. I have no problem eating meat, I love meat. But I don’t know if I would be able to kill my animal while looking at its face, and then have to skin it and eat it. I’m sure after long enough of being in the wilderness I’d be able to, but I think it would take a long time.

I put in a new pair of contacts today. Even though it’s probably bad, I like to make my contacts last as long as possible. So even though they are only supposed to last for 2 weeks, I make them last for at least a month. The pair that I threw out last night I had been using for probably 6-7 weeks. I never notice how bad they get. Last night, I was like, man am I having a hard time seeing out of these, so I tossed them in the garbage. Putting on my new ones this morning was like I had been given new eyes. Everything is so CLEAR and I can see EVERYTHING! It’s amazing. Its times like these that make me want to change them more often, but contacts are so expensive. I like to stretch my money out.

I would like to take a polygraph someday. I have no reason to, but I’d still like to. Especially because I’d like to see if I could beat it. Wouldn’t that be a great skill, beating a polygraph? I’d be like a spy or a secret agent!

Today, I am thankful for books. So amazing to jump into a novel and lose yourself in adventures.

Thoughtful Thursday

I don’t really have a blog entry per se, but I have a few random thoughts going around in my head, so now you’ll get to enjoy them too,

I am sick of the freeway. I’m sick of construction, I’m sick of it taking forever to get anywhere. Last night, on the way to the RSL game, it took us 35 minutes to get onto the freeway. Technically, 45 minutes, but 10 of those minutes were spent driving from the house to the freeway exit, and then the 35 were spent just trying to get on there. We were almost late to the game.

At the RSL game, there was a point where we all stood up, to cheer. I was cheering, and happened to look down, and the lady in front of me was nursing her child. I got to see her boob.
:( I didn’t care for that very much.

Also at the game (what is this, RSL edition night?), one of the players wasn’t playing, so he got to sit in the stands and watch with the rest of us. I so badly wanted to get my picture taken with him, and a handshake, but I tried to work my courage up all night and it never came. I never got to say hello. :(

I did, however, get to be on the jumbotron, which was fun. I was singing ‘Sweet Caroline’ when I was shown.

This morning, a few minutes into my shower, I got a bloody nose. Well, I couldn’t just stop showering and get some tissues, so I just let it flow as I hurried to shave my legs. (It’s skirt Thursday, after all) It looked like the shower scene from Psycho, I was afraid for my health.

My scouts are warming up to me. Unfortunately, the ones that are warming up to me are the ones that leave Webelos in a month. Dang it, I can never win!

I’m 80% sure they gave me a child’s Scout shirt for my shirt. This was made even more certain when the leaders asked me the other day if that really was the shirt they gave me. Uh…yes. And it barely fits, I feel like I should get one that fits adults. I’m looking into it.

I guess that's all I'm thinking for today. Not a whole lot, but thrilling thoughts indeed.

Skirt Thursday…and Other Musings

I wear a skirt every Thursday. There’s no rhyme or reason to it, I just do. It mixes up what I wear, so that I don’t wear the same thing all the time, plus its just fun. In the summer, a skirt provides a nice breeze when its warm, but in the winter, its really fun to jazz up a skirt with some colorful tights. I enjoy Skirt Thursday, I’ll keep the tradition alive.

Last night, my tenants moved out of my house. I know, they’ve only lived with us for a short time, since October 8th, but they decided to leave us before the before-agreed upon time, to move in with others, to spend time with them. Its nice to have our house back to ourselves (not that they took up that much room, mind you) and not worry about affecting anyone else around. This morning, when I went downstairs to see what conditions things were left in, I noticed that they had taken our towels. I’m not entirely sure why they did this…maybe they wanted to be nice and launder them before they gave them back? I’m hoping this is the case. I’m really not looking forward to making the call that asks to return my linens.

RSL won last night. Well, technically, Seattle beat RSL 2-0, but with the aggregate goal situation, we technically won, 3-2. It was a brutal game, and very nerve-wracking toward the end, but when the final whistle blew, we (Husband, PJ and I) all jumped up off the couch and screamed. It was awesome. I’m not sure when the next game is – there’s another playoff game tonight (between LA & NY) and the winner of that determines where/when we play next. Good luck to NY – I’d like them to win this one.

I don’t really like vanilla yogurt. I keep trying it once in a while, to see if maybe my feelings change (its happened before, on other things) but so far, they remain the same against the yogurt. I tried some the other morning, and there’s just a weird taste in the ‘Very Vanilla’ Yoplait yogurt.

yogurt

I tried some of Chelle’s ‘French Vanilla’ Yoplait, and it did taste better, so maybe in the future, I’ll switch to that one, and see how it goes. There’s something about the fruit flavors lately that I’m just sick of eating. But eating yogurt is healthy for you, and I’m trying to make healthier choices. Since I won’t give up eating cupcakes/cookies (despite my best efforts) I have to make different choices of healthiness. Because, I’m sorry, but giving up the sweets – its not really fun.

Miscellaneous Monday

Today I have a bunch of random thoughts that I’d like to share. They’re not enough for an entire blog, so I’m combining them into one!

I recently bought a new soap for my bathroom – Nutmeg Cream. It makes think of Christmas every time I use it. Plus, my hands smell delish even for a while after having washed! I would recommend this to anyone.

Today on my way to work, the roads were a little slick, thanks to that wonderful snowstorm we had over the weekend. I didn’t really alter my driving though, I kept going like I usually do. There was a time when I started to slide and skid all over, and as I was heading over to the sidewalk, I thought to myself, “I really don’t want to die while listening to a Ke$ha song. That’d really make my death even sadder”. Luckily, I survived, and changed the song.

I was eating a delicious slice of cherry pie, (thanks Chelle for the free slice!) and it was sugar-free, which I imagine to be healthier. As I was eating it, I noticed that without sugar, cherry pie is really tart, and then tart made me think of a slutty person, which just confirmed my suspicions that cherry really is the sluttiest of the pies.

The other day, a friend brought her baby into work, to show him off. He was fussy, and the ladies around me were all talking about how you should bounce a baby when it’s fussy, to quiet it. Asking why, one of them explained that it’s like when it’s in the womb, you bounce when you walk, and it’s used to it. I guess the look on my face expressed disbelief, because the same gal picked me up in her arms, slung me around her, and then walked so I could see what it was like. What a weird thing that was to happen –especially at work.

That’s pretty much the extent of what I have going on. I’m sure there are more miscellaneous thoughts going on in my head, but I should save those jewels for another time! Happy Monday (Imagine I just threw some confetti or leaves up in the air when I said that, it’s much more fun!)

Thought-Topia 2008: The November Edition

All right, I'm just gonna have to go with the little tidbits today. I can't think of a whole blog right now, that would require too much thinking.
I feel like I gotta get out of town. I know that I had a vacation like 3 weeks ago, but I already feel like I need to get out again. We have a trip planned next month-at the end-but I feel like that's so far away. Now that soccer is over, and the weather is turning cold, I am mourning the end of summer. I miss it already. I don't want it to turn cold.
Today was mom's birthday, (Happy Birthday, Mama!) and we went out to dinner at the Pizza Factory. There was a little person (ok, a child) that was sitting at the table next to us who I think was trying to play games with me. She kept look over and smiling and laughing and hiding and all that stuff, but I'm not into playing games with kids at places. I just stared at her, not smiling, hoping she would get the hint. She didn't, she kept going for a long time. When she finally stopped, I was happy. I understand most people like to play with the childrens, but I am not one of them.
Work will be depressing for the next couple of days because I won't have my comrade with me. Chelle will be off, doing fun things, while I am stuck at work, talking to nobody, and sharing all my oodles of information with no one. I understand that she needs to take the time off, and she's entitled to get out of work sometimes, but I will be sad being all by myself.
I still couldn't come up with a hair color. I'm getting such conflicting votes from everyone, and the voting is pretty much even, there are two votes for every color. I'm thinking that when I dye it (probably this weekend...) it'll be an impulse decision. Sometimes, they can be the best choices, but once in a while, two days later, I'm totally regretting the color I chose. Let's hope that doesn't happen this time.
No more thoughts at this time, really. Join us next time, when our topics will be "If love is blind, why is lingerie so popular?" and Bewitched: Fun-loving show or brainwashing us into the occult? Until then, I am Setenta Sports.

Thought-Topia 2008: The July Edition

I don't have enough going on right now to do a whole blog devoted to one topic, so I will chat about a few things on my mind. And I don't care if they're not appropriate to talk about-I'ma talk about what I want on my own bloggity blog!
Recently, I've been trying to figure out what my biggest fears are. I have one big fear, that I actually can't talk about-it's not at all kosher (or, halal). If you're close enough to me to know me well enough, you know what it is. Otherwise...sorry. But I've been trying to think of one that I can tell in a social setting, and I think I have one. I am really afraid of accidentally ingesting liquid dish soap. I am afraid there'll be a residue left in a glass, or my water bottle or anything of that nature. I had to wash my water jug the other day, and all day, I was so paranoid that I was accidentally eating some. Silly thing to fear, but people have weird fears. Like sewer grates. Weird.
I am glad to have done nothing the last few days. I love love love getting out and going to sporting events and the like, but I miss being home and watching my shows and running. I'm pretty sure I gained weight in all the fun times recently. Which'll make it harder to work off, but I'll do it. So long as things don't keep randomly popping up. And, I finally caught up to my stuff on my Tivo. I keep recording things that I know will take me a long time to watch, I don't even know why! But now all the TV shows are watched, and I just have a few random movies to watch. But I can take my time with those. When the TV stuff piles up, I feel like I'll never get out from under the pile of stuff!
I love my parents. I wish they could live forever. But I know this isn't possible. So, to take my mind off of this, I keep thinking of the things that I will get when they pass (God forbid). There is a lot of talk about who'll get this silverware set when it's time. I think I should get it, and let me tell you why. I'm supposedly getting the bird-since it's supposed to live to like a hundred. I think that with the bird should come the silverware. Plus, I'm still at home, while the rest of the kids have flown the coop. Yes, they have spouses and husbands. But I'm here for every holiday, and every birthday, and I take care of things. I'm just putting it out there, I should be considered.
I think that's about it for now, no other thoughts are swinging into my head. Until next time, I'm Setenta Sports.
