This Baby Lives!

Y'all. I watched Epifanio today, and this son of a gun absolutely had a hard day of it. First, we ate our breakfast ramen, as one does.

Then we spent the afternoon watching movies (I introduced him to Aladdin, no idea if he liked it) and then he did his usual Epifanio stuff, which is, run full speed into something and then hit into it.

Then, things took a dark turn.

OH MY GOSH. I am shocked at how he is still alive! But then he was too tuckered out by everything, so I just had to snuggle him until he slept.

I kept checking his eyes for a concussion but he was a-ok. Then when he woke up, he was fine, just a little subdued. Poor fella.

Bike Accident!

Today, Husband and I were shopping at Costco when I got a call from my sister in law. She said she had been in a bike accident and she was like, so I think I need a ride home, I'm a little scraped up. We left Costco right then and went to get her. We were def shocked when we got there and saw :
Yikes!! So we brought her home and cleaned out the wounds and took stock.
 Bum/hip
 Arm
Leg
So we put Neosporin all over the place and got her wrapped in some gauze and sent her on her way. Hopefully she'll heal well and have no issues!

Accident Prone Darth

The other day, Darth was climbing a tree and he fell out. When he hit the ground, he landed on his friends Nerf gun, which promptly sliced his hand open. He had to get stitches, of course. And although he definitely probably should have gotten more, he only received 6 stitches.
Here's the Snapchat I got when they took off the bandage. So yes, he's going to have a nasty scar, that's for sure. Apparently after his hand was all numb, the doc put the needle in and asked if he could feel it. When Darth saw the needle, he flipped out and could NOT calm down, so that's the best they could do. Can't wait to see how it heals haha.

This girl is on fiiii-iiiiire!

Happy Canada Day, everyone! To celebrate, we left Boise this morning, and rushed home to have a fireworks extravaganza with our family and friends. We had gotten a bunch of fireworks in Idaho, arials, fountains, basically everything. So when we got home, we rushed to get ready, and then the night was ready to start. We were about an hour in, and then tragedy struck. My SIL had lit an arial firework, and we all stood back to watch. After a few went up in the air, the firework tipped over, and started to shoot into yards. One went off near us and we started to panic, and then one went off right in our group. As we learned a bit later, it hit the ground near me, and then went off into me. So I quickly run into the house, and look down. I AM ON FIRE. I AM PHYSICALLY ON FIRE. So I quickly patted myself off (yeah, turns out that worked) and we surveyed the damage.

The outside is fine, luckily none of the other fireworks went off when a firework went off in the garage. My 3 year old niece had a small welt on her face, one hit her. I had a burn on my neck, from the where the firework bounced off my body and hit my neck. But my clothes were burned through. It went through my shirt, my camisole, and my jeans, and stopped right there. Let's see the damage.

So there we are. After this encounter, we were all pretty cautious around the fireworks. We lit a few more, but the thrill was gone, so we packed it up and called the night. I don't know how Independence Day is going to go, but hey, we're going to see how it is, and hopefully, nobody will catch on fire.

Oops

Today, I was in a hurry to get out of the bathroom. I don’t know why, I just was like, ooh I gotta get going. So I opened the bathroom cabinet, looked in there, and then realized I didn’t get what I needed. So I bent forward to look in there at the same time I opened the cabinet, so naturally, I smashed my face with it.

There, above the eyebrow, is a bump. It’s a bruise, now, a few hours later, so really, that was just an unlucky turn of life. Be careful, everyone, when opening cabinets. Who knows what could happen!

Caramel Apples…a dangerous adventure

Last night, Chelle and I got together to yet again make some caramel apples, candy-cane popcorn and dipped Oreos. It was going to be a great night. We started off by making the popcorn – and we started by smashing up the candy canes:

Then after that, we got started on the apples. While Chelle was making the popcorn, I washed and scrubbed the apples. I had taken the caramel (a 5-lb block, mind you) out of the box and set it on the counter. I turned the heat on the pot, then turned to get the caramel and put it in the pot. The caramel had gotten stuck to the counter! I was trying so hard to pry it off with no luck. Chelle came over to help me, and the two of us were pulling it off with all of our might, and POP! it came off the counter!

…and landed directly onto my big toe. Ouch!

Toe

Luckily I had the presence of mind to take a picture of my toe right afterwards. It wasn’t too horrible right after it happened, which is when this was taken. We kept going with the caramel apples, because I wasn’t going to stop making these just because my foot hurt. We had an issue with the caramel scorching in the pot, but we remedied that by getting a new pot, etc. We got done dipping all the apples, and by that time, my foot was killing me! So we take a look at it, and it’s now like, purple, and considerably bigger and just looking generally gross. I usually don’t ever go to the doctor, but we decided to make an exception.

Chelle drove me to Insta-Care, and we got an exam. My blood pressure was taken, my pulse, etc. The nurse (who I didn’t really care for, she was sorta bratty) asked me if I was nervous, because my pulse was like, 100-something and I replied that I must have been, but I don’t know why. After waiting a while, the nurse came in to take me to X-Rays.

After the X-Rays (which were painful!) they brought me back, and I waited again for the doctor to come in with the diagnosis.

Broken.

My poor big toe.

The doctor told us he couldn’t do anything for it, just elevate, ice and ibuprofen, and sent us on our merry way. We went back to Chelle’s and finished the apples (they looked fabulous, but I didn’t get a picture), iced my foot, took some pills, and called it a night.

Today it still hurts, of course, so I’m walking gingerly and taking my pills for it. I wore by biggest, loosest pair of shoes today to alleviate some of the pain, and it’s not too bad, but it still feels best to be shoeless, which I mostly am on that foot. I have a bandage over it, to make sure the cut doesn’t get anything on it, but that’s mostly it.

What a night it was! I’m so glad we made the apples, but man, the elements sure were against us doing them. Next time, once we start getting signs like that again…I think I’ll play it safe and stop!
